Lana worked very hard during her time in the WWE to transition to a performer. She never had the training in traditional wrestling as she joined the company as a valet of Rusev. But after getting along with the then roster members of the WWE, she picked up the nag of wrestling and eventually went on to become a wrestler.
As seen in her last few days in the WWE, Lana was this close to becoming a champion in the WWE. At first, she received a shot to Raw Women’s champion Asuka and then she teamed up with the Empress of Tomorrow to challenge for the Women’s Tag Team Championships held by Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler. But Charlotte Flair’s return at TLC ruined that hope.

Even before that, she came close to winning solo titles but WWE never approved her wins. Lana recently appeared in a Facebook live video with East Coast Autograph Auctions where she shed light on her time as a wrestler in WWE. She said that in 2017 and 2018 she felt that she could have been a champion in WWE only if she could change up her physique.

The former Ravishing Russian mentioned that Charlotte Flair bulked up on her own way which was taken well by the WWE. As a result, the company handed her success, more than one could expect. If she could do so, WWE may have just decided to make her a champion.
“Probably 2017-2018, I felt like if I could bulk up and look like Charlotte Flair, then maybe I could become champion. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out for me. You know, not everyone can be genetically superior and also have a famous father that is 16, 17 time (champion). His daughter is going to surpass him pretty soon,” Lana stated. It wasn’t clear whether Rusev’s wife was taking a jab at the fact that Charlotte Flair went through multiple surgeries in her WWE career to change up her physique and become more attractive to the audience. Lana, on the other hand, remained a natural beauty she is whose will to change up appearance was denied by WWE higher-ups.
Following Wrestlemania 37, Lana was released by the WWE amid COVID-19 related budget cuts. Her 90-day no-compete ended long ago as we expect her to be signed with WWE’s rival brands like AEW in due course.
