Maria Kanellis had a decent second stint with the WWE that came to an end in 2020 as she was part of a budget-cut release. She currently holds a deal with IMPACT Wrestling but she originally had signed with Ring of Honor which led her to a crossroads. ROH was taken over by AEW President Tony Khan and now has a decision to take about her pro-wrestling career.
Before Ring of Honor went on a hiatus, Maria Kanellis used to be one of the bosses of their revamped women’s division. But since the company was shut down for a short period, she was back as an on-screen character for IMPACT as a part of Honor no More faction. The heel stable has been a key part of Impact’s ongoing storylines.

Currently, Maria Kanellis is on a pay-per-appearance agreement with Impact and that deal ends after her upcoming show tapings in Poughkeepsie, New York. She also wanted more of a leadership position like she had in Ring of Honor but for now, she’s waiting to see how things will unfold, next for the promotion.

Maria Kanellis could still be associated with ROH
In a virtual signing to K&S Wrestle Fest, Maria Kanellis stated the following about her current career graph,
“So I had a paid per deal with IMPACT and that comes to a close in Poughkeepsie. So after that, we’ll see where we go from there. I mean, I’m sure there’s tons of chaos that we can still have over at IMPACT but I’m not exclusive. With Ring of Honor, we don’t know exactly what it’s going to be. I ran the women’s division last year I absolutely loved it.”
Maria Kanellis recently expressed her excitement about the Ring of Honor being purchased by Tony Khan. She is hopeful that Khan might present a TV or streaming deal for the promotion. Since she was instrumental in building the ROH women’s roster, she’s really excited about how things may end up for ROH in the future.
Plus, during the post-show media scrum at the recent Supercard of Honor PPV, Khan also talked about a possible role for Maria Kanellis for the newly-acquired ROH. The head honcho stated that he would be excited to talk to her. So, future collaboration between the two can’t be ruled out.
