Rowan attacked him from behind while he was staring down to the crowd. A mammoth Iron Claw Slam followed, next to out down Roman Reigns for good. Rowan goaded about attacking him in the past and pick up the steel steps and hit Reigns with it. Daniel Bryan tried to stop him and slapped him into the face making the big man irate. Rowan put him through the announce table and thereby turned on his mentor, surprising the fans. The officials ran down to prevent him from a further beatdown. This set up the Clash of Champions matchup between Roman Reigns and Rowan, too.

The storyline between Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan had become pretty interesting before this week’s Smackdown. Someone tried to ruin Reigns’ life with heinous acts on both Raw and Smackdown on two different occasions. Buddy Murphy revealed that it was Rowan who tried to hurt The Big Dog.

Obviously, this dragged Daniel Bryan into the mix since he is the mentor for Rowan. Bryan denied of having any associations with these attacks, right away. He even presented a lookalike of Rowan to prove that it was not them behind the attacks. Thanks for some hidden cameras, Roman Reigns was able to show us that it was indeed Rowan. But Bryan still wanted an apology, (via WWE.com)

“In the wake of this revelation, a furious Bryan slapped his ally and continued to insist that he had nothing to do with the attacks. Reigns, appearing not to buy Bryan’s story, silenced The Planet’s Champion with a thunderous Spear. Despite the evidence pointing to him being guilty by association, Bryan maintains that Erick Rowan acted alone and claimed that he still deserves an apology from Reigns.”

By the looks of it, Daniel Bryan may deserve an apology for real as Rowan was the one to commit the attack. There’s no proof yet that Bryan was the brain behind those ambushes that also ruled out the idea of a Bryan vs. Reigns matchup, for now.
