WWE Monday Night Raw roster member, Dolph Ziggler has become the new number-one contender to WWE NXT Champion Bron Breakker. The two will thus feature in a future title match but nothing is confirmed, as of this writing.
During this week’s WWE NXT 2.0 main event, Ziggler defeated Tommaso Ciampa to earn a future championship shot from Breakker. Ziggler’s tag team partner, Robert Roode interfered in the match by dressing as a ringside cameraman and attacking Ciampa with a camera. Ziggler capitalized on the move and pinned Ciampa with a Superkick.
Then The Dirty Dawgs double-teamed Ciampa following the main event but Breakker rushed the ring to make the save. The brawl continued as Breakker issued a challenge for next week. Thus, the main event for next week will feature The Dirty Dawgs vs. Breakker and Ciampa in a tag team bout.
In the opening sequence of last night’s show, Breakker cut a promo to indicate that he will be defending against the new number-one contender at WWE NXT Stand & Deliver. With this first TV mention of Stand & Deliver, the show is now confirmed to happen on Saturday, April 2 from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, that’s just a few hours before Night One of WrestleMania 38 begins.
WWE NXT Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic 2022 begins
The 2022 WWE NXT Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic has also begun on this week’s NXT 2.0. In the first two opening-round matches, Io Shirai and Kay Lee Ray defeated Lash Legend and Amari Miller, while Kayden Carter and Kacy Catanzaro defeated Ivy Nile and Tatum Paxley to advance to the next round. These two winning teams will also feature in a semi-finale matchup but the date isn’t confirmed.
Paxley was supposed to be a prospect for The Diamond Mine faction, but her tag team partner Ivy Nile attacked her after the match for digesting the pinfall loss. Ivy continued attacking her until Roderick Strong called her off.
Next week, the right side of the WWE NXT Women’s Dusty Classic 2022 bracket will feature the remaining two first-round matches – Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta vs. Wendy Choo and Dakota Kai; Cora Jade and Raquel Gonzalez vs. Valentina Feroz and Yulisa Leon. Winners of the tournament will receive a future title shot from NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne.
