NXT Battleground 2024 will be the first premium live event following Wrestlemania 40 under WWE’s third banner. Under the leadership of the legendary Shawn Michaels, the WWE NXT brand has seen a lot of growth over the past couple of years as the developmental territory continues to provide intriguing moments through such special programs.
NXT Battleground 2024 was set to become a staple of the famous Memorial Day weekend following the success of last year’s event. Several major events like AEW Double or Nothing have taken place during this weekend since 2019, and WWE wanted to bring in the competition from last year onward. But that won’t essentially be the case following a changed schedule.

In a later update from WrestleVotes, NXT Battleground 2024 changed both the date and location. This report was further confirmed by PWInsider. The show has moved to June 9 weekend and going by the rumors, it could emanate from UFC Apex.
“Hearing rumblings of a significant schedule change, I’m told the NXT Battleground event will be moving off May 26th to June 9th. With the location shifting as well as Savanna, GA will no longer host the show. NXT Battleground 2024 will take place live in Las Vegas at the UFC Apex,” reported WrestleVotes.
NXT Battleground 2024 to have one follow-up WWE PLE in the summer
It was also revealed by the sources that following NXT Battleground 2024, the next Premium Live Event under WWE’s third brand would be Heatwave, which will take place in Toronto, Ontario on July 7 as part of Money in the Bank weekend at the Scotiabank Arena. Thus, NXT will create history by hosting two back-to-back PLEs in consecutive months.
The official schedule of NXT Battleground 2024 included top NXT Superstars featuring llja Dragunov, Lyra Valkyria, Oba Femi, Tony D’Angelo, and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo. Additional details for the tickets will be disclosed later following the re-confirmation of the PLE’s date.
In recent times, each of the premium live events under the NXT banner was able to meet the expectations and it’s safe to assume that NXT Battleground 2024 will be no different when it comes to in-ring action and storyline progress. The compact build for the PLE is expected to go down throughout the post-Wrestlemania season.
