Just one night after retaining her NXT women’s title, Becky Lynch went through another title match at NXT Halloween Havoc 2023 and it proved to be a fatal choice for her. The top superstar of the Raw brand ended up losing her belt while trying to be a workhorse just like her husband and in the process she also helped put over a new star power on the NXT roster.

In the main event of NXT Halloween Havoc 2023 Night One, Lyra Valkyria defeated Becky Lynch to win the NXT Women’s Championship. Before this main event title match went underway, WWE brought Jade Cargill to sit on a throne to watch the action unfold inside the squared circle.

While Lynch had her veteran instincts to have the upper hand in this match, Valkyria also showed tremendous skills by showing countermeasures for the maneuvers offered by her opponent. During the finishing sequence of this headliner from NXT Halloween Havoc 2023, Becky laid out Valkyria with a Manhandle Slam. While many thought that was it in the match, Valkyria kicked out of it.

Lynch then set up Valkyria in position for a second Manhandle Slam, but this time, Valkyria reversed it and rolled Lynch up for a three-count pinfall to secure the win as well as the NXT Women’s Championship. Following the shocking outcome of the match, Lynch handed her title to Vallkyria and embraced her fellow Irish woman to send NXT Halloween Havoc 2023 Night One off the air.

Becky Lynch won the NXT Women’s Championship in early September in a regular episode of NXT by defeating Tiffany Stratton. Then at the NXT No Mercy premium live event, she retained in an Extreme Rules Match and suffered a lacerated arm which required 11 stitches to get fully healed. Despite the setback, she was quickly back in action on Raw.

As noted above, Lynch defeated Indi Hartwell on this week’s Raw to retain her title which was just a night before NXT Halloween Havoc 2023. This match could have also served as a kayfabe reason for Lynch dropping the title as she had to go through two back-to-back title defenses on two consecutive nights. Meanwhile, Valkyria won the maiden title in her WWE career.
