Paige had to retire from active in-ring competition back in 2018 when she was just in her mid-20’s. The travesty occurred due to a neck injury which became fatal over the fact that she has been wrestling since the age of 13. She cannot wrestle again under WWE’s watch, it appears although there’s been some hope about the same since last year that about her in-ring return.

While Paige herself hoped to be wrestling again inside the squared circle, there are wrestlers like Daniel Bryan or Edge who are also examples of overcoming neck injuries and being back in wrestling. So it appears that the botched kick by Sasha Banks at a house show in December 2017 won’t be the last time that we had seen the anti-diva to be in action.

As noted, Paige is definitely hoping to get medically cleared to wrestle again. But she also revealed that it would not be an easy experience for her to wrestle, again after being away from the ring for more than three years. During a recent interview with Mark Andrews on My Love Letter to Wrestling, she stated that if she ever gets cleared to compete, she will be terrified to step back into the ring.

“And even if I was able to come back, it’s always that mental block now because I thought I was good to come back the first time I had neck surgery and I was like confident, I was still doing the same things I did prior even though I probably shouldn’t have been doing that, you know, like wrestling move-wise and then to come back again, I would be completely terrified,” Paige continued.

“Like in my head, I’m terrified to come back. Even if my heart is saying, ‘Yes! I would love to.’ It’s like getting over that mental block of ever being able to step back in the ring again.” (quotes courtesy POST Wrestling)

Paige is only 28 who still has plenty of wrestling left in her. It would be an absolute privilege for WWE to have her back on the active roster who could serve as star power, given her million fanbase all over the world. But WWE is pretty strict when it comes to clearing people from concussions and so we’ll have to wait and see what they decided to do with the former Divas Champion.

Ringside News previously asked around about Paige, and they let us know that there is no plan to use her in a creative sense. Her name didn’t come up in any of the creative meetings. She managed the Kabuki Warriors in 2019 in a non-physical role and no such stint is reserved for her, too. For the time being, she is still under a contract with the WWE, however.
