Paige had returned to the WWE, one last time following Wrestlemania 35 in a new managerial role. Previously she used to be the general manager of Smackdown Live running things entirely for the blue brand. That stint went on until December 2018 when the McMahons took the show over. But they did find a suitable position for one of the most popular woman superstars of all time.
Paige was managing the tag team of Asuka and Kairi Sane on Smackdown. She had basically become a mouthpiece for these two superstars who have problems speaking in English. Did she love that new role? Or had been she fond of the earlier authority role for the blue brand? In a recent promotional appearance, the ‘anti-Diva’ talked on these topics.

Paige Wanted To Become Ronda Rousey’s Manager In WWE
She appeared on the ComicBook Nation podcast to talk a bit about her time as SmackDown General Manager. Her words suggested that she loved that role so much. WWE allowed her to cut multiple promos on a single day which was a unique thing about her character. This helped her to ‘grow creatively and professionally’. But she does not regret losing the position since WWE handed her a new role.
While speaking about the managerial spot, Paige dropped surprising news. Initially, she was specific to become the voice of the ‘baddest woman in the planet’ Ronda Rousey. She wanted to play the female counterpart of Paul Heyman for either the former Raw women’s champion or Asuka,
“I pitched to manage Ronda Rousey, kind of like the Paul Heyman-Brock Lesnar thing. And then also be with Asuka, because Asuka had trouble speaking on the mic sometimes. As much as she’s an amazing athlete, an incredible wrestler, and I was like, ‘I’ll help her, give me the microphone, I’ll talk for her.’”
But WWE did not want to tag someone with Ronda Rousey who used to cut decent promos. Additionally, she was not going to have a longer stint anyway which might have obstructed WWE to appoint a spokesperson for her. Rather, it was valid for Asuka and Kairi Sane to get Paige as their manager who lacks voice skills.
Paige issued the following statements confirming that she had no problems in managing the two Japanese sensations,
“And then Paul Heyman called me one day and said, ‘We have a great role for you. You can be the next me with these two women.’ I was like, ‘Wow, what a crazy tag team, they’re incredible…. Absolutely, I’ll take it!'”
