To the disappointment of the WWE Universe, the ever-popular superstar Paige was forced to announce her retirement from the in-ring competition. She was dealing with a neck injury that was reaggravated via a sudden kick by Sasha Banks. This eventually forced the victim to hang up her pro wrestling boots for good at the early age of just 25 in 2017. This ruled out the chances of seeing some dream matches.

Paige was then converted into the General Manager of Friday Night Smackdown followed by another managerial stint for the Kabuki Warriors – Asuka and Kairi Sane. For a short time span, WWE Backstage on FOX also utilized her as an analyst. But now she is no longer in Vince McMahon’s company due non-renewal of the previous contract. But that won’t stop her from wrestling again for a big moment.

The first-ever NXT Women’s Champion shocked the professional wrestling world by announcing that she will be parting ways with the company starting from July 7 onwards. It was unfortunate for a top name like her that WWE decided not to renew the contract. But then again, Paige was literally sitting out of WWE television for more than two years while getting paid. Now, she is waiting for further opportunities outside the company.

Paige hopes to come back to wrestling in the near future

While speaking to Renee Paquette fka Renee Young in WWE on The Sessions Podcast, Paige noted that she fully intends to wrestle again. She also expects it to be a very big moment. The UK-born wrestler, now going by her real name of Saraya is inspired by recent returnees in Daniel Bryan or WWE Hall of Famer Edge from similar neck injuries. This makes her be hopeful about her wrestling future.

“I feel fantastic, I really do feel fantastic. I still have the mental block of, ‘Oh my God, if I was to get in the ring, what if?’ If I was to have to be in the ring, it would be for a really big moment to wrestle. I’ll do promos here and there, for big companies, but to actually wrestle, it would have to be a really big moment. I would love to face Sasha again, for real. It ended the way it did,” Paige added.

“I would love to face Sasha [Banks] again … I feel like [Triple H] is going to get her. I feel like now that Hunter took over, everyone’s going to be like, ‘I’m ready to come home.’”
