Since becoming the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion at WrestleMania 38, Roman Reigns has only defended his titles at Live Events. He has yet to feature in a title defense on TV/PPV. In fact, he’s not been involved in any championship program and it looks like the fans will have to wait for some more to see it happening.
According to the reports of Wrestling Observer, Roman Reigns wasn’t scheduled to defend his Titles at the June 5th Hell In A Cell 2022 premium live event. The reason behind this is that WWE wants to save his next Title defense for a Stadium show, which will be Money In The Bank 2022 on July 2nd at the Allegiant Stadium or Summerslam 2022, later that month.
Roman Reigns’ WWE TV Schedule Remains Active Until Summerslam 2022
One of the main reasons for the lack of televised title defenses for Roman Reigns in the post-WrestleMania 38 season is very obvious and that’s the lack of credible challengers for him on SmackDown. This is the same reason that he wasn’t booked to defend at Wrestlemania Backlash 2022. Rather, he teamed up with The Usos to defeat the team of Raw tag team champions, RK-Bro and Drew McIntyre.

Roman Reigns is reportedly featuring in lesser WWE shows
Speaking of McIntyre, he’s the only established and ready opponent on SmackDown to face Roman Reigns. Hence, WWE intends to save that match/feud for Stadium shows (Money in the Bank 2022, SummerSlam, Clash at the Castle).
The reports of Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns not wrestling at June WWE Network Specials, Hell in a Cell Premium Live Event also seemed to be accurate since he was removed from the newly released poster for the event.
The June 5 event had Cody Rhodes featured front and center, as opposed to the dual champion and hence he was expected to headline in his third match against Cody Rhodes. The Tribal Chief was previously included in the promotional material for the next WWE PLE but he was removed given that he won’t be involved in a wrestling capacity.
It should be noted that Roman Reigns is not advertised for any WWE TV tapings or live events for the months of July or August. While he’s expected to go into a hiatus following June 24 Smackdown TV taping, he should get involved in the Money in the Bank and SummerSlam Premium Live Events.
