The post-Survivor Series edition of WWE Raw had a shocking heel-turn in the main event slot of the show.
Another interesting happening from the show featured a huge championship change in the mid-card picture.
AJ Styles is no more the United States Champion as Rey Mysterio dethroned him from the title reign on the show.
Originally, WWE United States Title Match was scheduled to take place between Humberto Carrillo and AJ Styles.
But The OCs-Gallows and Anderson attacked Humberto from behind and took him out of commission.
Ricochet, Randy Orton, Drew McIntyre, and Rey Mysterio then came out wanting a title shot against AJ to set up the number one contender’s match.
These four superstars battled each other in a No-DQ affair to determine who will face AJ Styles, next for the United States Championship.
Randy Orton was almost fingertipping away from the win after connecting with an RKO on Drew McIntyre.
But the OCs prevented him from getting the pinfall win. Rey Mysterio took advantage by rolling up Ricochet out of nowhere to pick up the victory.
Thus we received the dream match between AJ Styles and Rey Mysterio on WWE Raw for the United States Championship.
Gallows and Anderson continuously interfered in the match leading Randy Orton to run down and provide the back up to the challenger,
“Randy Orton reemerged with payback on his mind. The Viper took out Gallows & Anderson singlehandedly, helped Rey drill Styles with a second 619 and administered an RKO to make sure The Phenomenal One stayed down for the fateful Frog Splash.
Hardly the night, Styles envisioned for himself. But as you can gather from the visual of Mysterio atop his son’s shoulders, one man’s disaster is another man’s miracle.”
This turned out to be the second time that Rey Mysterio won the United States title in his career.
Back in May 2019, he won it for the first time only to relinquish it due to a shoulder injury.
Since then he had a bad time on the flagship show until getting booked into the WWE title feud against Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series.
Hopefully, he’ll have a solid reign with the US title in the second attempt.
