Roman Reigns is the Tribal Chief of the WWE and now he’s become the self-proclaimed King of WWE Smackdown. Although, he didn’t earn the rights to be called The King but rather ganged up on the real King, Xavier Woods, using the number game on his side.
In the main event of this week’s WWE Smackdown, WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns faced Xavier Woods. This match was billed as the Battle for the Rule of Smackdown on a night that took place at the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia. Sir Kofi Kingston was absent from the show and hence couldn’t accompany Woods to the ring due to an injury suffered by Reigns and Co, last week.

Xavier Woods was inching closer for the win after Roman Reigns charged in the corner but hit the ring post as his opponent Woods side-stepped. Woods went back to the top but had a long way to fly. He leaped off the top rope with the Coast 2 Coast elbow drop and hit it for the pin attempt when SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos attacked Woods for the disqualification.
Roman Reigns suffered a DQ loss on Smackdown
The Usos continued to destroy Woods as they took him to the floor for more punishment, using the steel ring steps against the barrier. The boos from the fans got louder as The Usos returned to the ring while Roman Reigns dropped to one knee. Heyman then handed King Woods’ crown (Woods won the 2021 King of the Ring tournament at Crown Jewel 2021 to get that crown) to The Usos.
The tag champs then brought the crown over and place it on Roman Reigns’ head as the latter’s music hit the arena. The Bloodline faction stood tall in the middle of the ring with their fingers in the air, a signature pose of them while Heyman also raised the Universal Title from the apron in a similar gesture to send Smackdown off the air.
That being said, Roman Reigns’ rivalry with The New Day members has just got escalated. This ongoing angle on Smackdown will play a huge role in the upcoming Champion vs. Champion match at Survivor Series 2021. The Tribal Chief will lock horns against the WWE Champion and third member of The New Day, Big E in a much-anticipated night, next Sunday.
