Roman Reigns isn’t present in WWE programming, at this moment and his absence is making a difference in Smackdown TV ratings. He’s the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, after all, who hasn’t defended ever since winning the golds at Wrestlemania 38 by Brock Lesnar.
At this Sunday’s Hell in a Cell PLE, Roman Reigns won’t be involved in any match while chances are also very low that he will compete at Money in the Bank, net month, as well. After that WWE has two bigger stadium shows in the form of Summerslam and Clash at the Castle where his involvement is seemingly required.

It also appears that WWE has a match in mind for Clash at the Castle for the dual champion as seen on this week’s Smackdown. The Friday night show was kicked off with The New Day as they invited Drew McIntyre to the ring and thanked him for his help against The Brawling Brutes last week.
Drew McIntyre gave a shoutout to Big E who is recovering from injury at home and then proceeded to issue a challenge to Roman Reigns for Clash at the Castle. He also vowed to win the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. There’s no update on whether that September PLE will be the only time where the golds will be defended, this year. But it was odd to see a superstar making a challenge for a WWE Networks Specials which is months away in the WWE calendar.

Roman Reigns is probably done performing in WWE Live Events
Roman Reigns might have worked his last WWE live event match, for the time being at the May 22 Sunday Stunner live event in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. After defeating Drew McIntyre in that night’s main event match, The Tribal Chief gave his post-match speech thanking fans in attendance.
“From the bottom of my heart, I appreciate all of ya’ll,” Roman Reigns indicated that he might be done with WWE live events. “I obviously had the Internet talking last week or the week before that. I’m not going to be doing too many live events like these, on Sundays, going forward. So, this could be my last one.”
At present, The Head of the Table is not advertised for Hell in a Cell, or for any of the upcoming live events and TV tapings until Money in the Bank on July 2.
