WWE made the stakes high for Royal Rumble 2022 by announcing a star-studded lineup for the Women’s Rumble match. As reported earlier, the company has been dealing with the shortage of female superstars to fill up the 30 slots as they don’t have that many talents on the current roster. As a result, a lot of returning talents as well as NXT talents have been needed.
Then on Smackdown, overall 19 names were announced for the Women’s Royal Rumble 2022 match which included several WWE Hall of Famers and former WWE Divas Champions. Top female talents from WWE Raw and Smackdown roster have also been confirmed while no NXT talents have entered the fray, to date.

During that announcement, former WWE Divas roster member Summer Rae was confirmed to be one of the 30 women entering the Royal Rumble 2022 match. Rae hasn’t been seen with the company since the departure back in the summer of 2017 when she was drafted to RAW but then never made an appearance on TV before being released from her contract. It was she herself who requested the release due to a neck injury.
Royal Rumble 2022 will feature several former WWE Divas
Following the Royal Rumble 2022 participation confirmation, the blonde-head Diva took to social media and reacted to the reveal on SmackDown. In her post, she went into detailing and mentioned how this return was supposed to be a surprise on the night of the event,
“Okay, so obviously I can’t sleep. I’ve been on Twitter and I am so overwhelmed by the amazing response on Twitter by you guys. Oh my gosh, like, we weren’t even supposed to announce that I was going to be in the Rumble, it was going to be a surprise and then, I found out a couple of hours ago. So I was really nervous to look on Twitter, because people are mean, like, people just be mean on Twitter and the response — everyone was so nice. You guys have me in my feels.”
Along with competing inside the ring, Summer Rae was a featured character on the WWE and E! Network reality series, Total Divas. Arguably her most memorable moment on the show was when she confronted fellow WWE star Natalya outside of her home. During the heated exchange, Natalya mentioned how Summer was “still 30 and single” and was met with a stiff slap to the face from Rae.
Apart from her WWE in-ring stint, Summer Rae was a featured character on the WWE and E Network reality series, Total Divas. During a heated exchange with Natalya on the show, she went on to meet the veteran with a stiff slap to the face. That incident has been revisited by these two superstars over on social media as they plan on having a physical confrontation while competing in the Royal Rumble 2022 match.
