What happened once Smackdown Live went-off the air on February 13, 2018

Arindam Paul / 14 February 2018
Smackdown Live, WWE Championship, Dolph Ziggler, Fastlane PPV, AJ Styles,

Last night’s Smackdown Live was a much more compact show in comparison to the last few weeks. The comeback of Dolph Ziggler was used in the rightmost way which handed over the spotlight that he deserved. By winning the main event of the night, he will now compete in the WWE Championship match at the Fastlane PPV.

That was not the only contender’s match of the night as Baron Corbin, too grabbed the opportunity given towards him and defeated Kevin Owens, the bonafide heel of the blue brand advancing to the match, as well.

This made the main event match of Fastlane PPV, a fatal-5-way where AJ Styles will defend his WWE Championship.

Last night from Bakersfield, California had a lot of wrestling in-store for the fans which continued even after the show went off the air.

AJ Styles was kept-off from this week’s episode Smackdown Live but he showed up to compete in the dark main event matchup.

It was a big match against Jinder Mahal that was contested for the WWE title. Styles retained it via a Phenomenal Fore-arm.

Apart from this match, there was a four-woman tag team match in-store, as well.

Check out the results courtesy wrestlingINC.com:

“There were two dark main events tonight in Bakersfield after WWE 205 Live went off the air – Becky Lynch and Naomi defeated Carmella and Natalya while WWE Champion AJ Styles retained over Jinder Mahal with the Phenomenal Forearm. Jinder vs. Styles closed the show.”

The third dark match from last night featured a singles competition between Mike Bennett and Tye Dillinger. The man with the ‘perfect 10’ gimmick won the match via his finishing Tye-breaker move.

On the Fallout show, Randy Orton noted on not getting his championship opportunity after accepting the open challenge issued by Bobby Roode.

Mahal took away the chance on a night where he might have become the US title-holder for the very first time. But, he indicated that it might happen, very soon.

Bobby Roode fired in another promo daring to give Orton a title shot. He claimed that he might have become the new ‘legend killer’ in the locker room.

Plus, Ziggler gave an interview stating that he might be on his way to having a Wrestlemania moment by winning the WWE Championship at Fastlane.
