A lot has been going on in WWE throughout the year of 2019. A number of returns happened including the infamous one featuring CM Punk.
Plus, the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin have also showed up for a couple of occasions, this year. Following this, rumors started running rampant that he may come back to in-ring competition.
We have received a clarification on the matter in recent times that suggests the much-anticipated return is not happening. We won’t be seeing the legendary name lacing up the boots, again.
Seth Rollins wants Stone Cold at Wrestlemania
In a recent interview, Stone Cold Steve Austin has confirmed that he won’t be lacing up the boots, ever again, for one last time.
The WWE Hall of Famer recently appeared in an interview with ESPN to note on his in-ring career. He clearly mentioned that his body may not be in a condition to deliver a match for 15-20 minutes.
With that being said, the WrestleMania 19 main event will always remain as the final match of his career. (courtesy wrestlingINC.com)
“I’d be happy to give you a two-letter answer: N.O. It’s like people say, it’s show business, and in the wrestling business, it never says never,” Austin said.
“If you ask me, ‘Steve do you have a couple of Stunners, a couple of right hands or do you have some hell-raising left in you?’ Absolutely, I do. But just to go in there, lace them up and go in there for a 15-, 20-minute match?
No, man. I don’t. Nor do I want to. I did what I did, and in WrestleMania 19, that was my last match with The Rock and he beat me 1-2-3 right in the middle of the ring. Took three Rock Bottoms, but that was the last match that ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin will ever have.”
The WrestleMania 19 main event will always be an epic for the fans where perhaps the two greatest of all-time squared off for the third time in their career.
So a superstar of Stone Cold’s caliber would not want to rewrite the history which could end up really bad. The superstar is in his 50s which is not a good time for a comeback, as per the past experience.
However, the etch within him for wrestling has yet not gone. He admitted following the WWE products. Whenever someone suggests that there’s been a good match, he’ll go watch it.
While doing so, he’d act in a way like he is performing in it, himself. This makes him believe that perhaps he could go and perform some moves,
“I DVR all the shows,” Stone Cold revealed. “Sometimes I’ll watch live or I’ll go back and watch something if someone tells me, ‘Hey man, go watch this match.’
And I’ll watch that match, and my wife will be watching me. I’m leaning in and punching and leaning back. She goes, ‘What are you doing?
Why are you moving like that?’ I say, ‘I’m just watching the match.’ She’s like, ‘Yeah, but you’re acting like you’re doing the match.’
I’m into it. I do that all the time. I think I have something left in me. Not a match, but I still enjoy watching the guys and gals do their thing.”
Perhaps, WWE would need a proper booking to let Stone Cold Steve Austin bring back into in-ring competition going by the comments.
However, it won’t be for a full-time purpose, for sure. But he could definitely deliver more Stunners while making TV appearances in the future.
