The last time ‘Mania was hosted from that state, he was in attendance in a segment that didn’t allow him to get back to physical capacity in a full-fledged way. That might not be the case, the next time around as WWE could plan something big for him.

Stone Cold Steve Austin’s voice was used for WrestleMania commercials which have already indicated that he would be there for the event. WWE is reportedly planning something big for him and it might be able to bring him out of retirement, after all.
A report from Fightful Select notes that WWE has made a pledge towards Stone Cold Steve Austin to compete at the next edition of the Showcase of Immortals. There’s no word on if Austin is interested in wrestling his first match after almost two decades, but the company is going with the home that he will eventually come out of retirement for one more match on his home turf.

“WWE has made a significant overture towards one of the biggest draws in WWE history “Stone Cold” Steve Austin for an in-ring return at WrestleMania 38 in Dallas, Texas. Austin has not wrestled in 19 years, with his last match taking place at WrestleMania 19. Since then, many WWE Superstars have tried to conjure Austin out of retirement, but it hasn’t happened out of yet,” the source noted.
In more update to the situation, PWInsider reported that WWE pitched the idea of having the legend return to the ring for one night only and compete in his home state of Texas in the match that would serve as a one-time send-off in front of crowd capacity that could reach 100,000. Stone Cold Steve Austin’s involvement would also help boost WrestleMania ticket sales.
While WWE has reached out to the former champion, there has been zero confirmation within the company that Stone Cold Steve Austin Austin has actually agreed to come back to action on The Grandest Stage of Them All. However, WWE has discussed some sort of role for him to be a part of the show in some fashion, even if he doesn’t wrestle.
