As reported earlier, WWE will be using all its resources to make sure that SummerSlam 2021 appears to be this year’s WrestleMania. The company is moving forward to make this event as big as possible by securing more marquee names for the show. More updates are now available in this regard.
During the Mat Men Pro Wrestling podcast, Andrew Zarian noted that he does not believe that WWE has locked Brock Lesnar down for SummerSlam 2021 which coincides with the earlier report that the former champion is yet to receive the call from WWE’s part. However, WWE does have a list of mega names ready they want for the event, and Lesnar’s name was on that list.

Right now, the situation is that WWE is yet to lock down Lesnar down for SummerSlam 2021.
“WWE had a list of mega names for SummerSlam, Brock was one of those. I don’t know if Brock is a contractual thing where the money wasn’t right to bring him back now as opposed to, I don’t know, Survivor Series is happening and you’re getting closer to Royal Rumble. Because he’s a touring attraction, especially now, I think his stock has gone up, because WWE is going to need all of these guys for all of these shows.”

Nick Khan setting up a huge Summerslam 2021
WWE President & Chief Revenue Officer Nick Khan is reportedly the man behind WWE SummerSlam 2021 going down from Las Vegas, this year. It was reportedly Khan’s idea to conduct the biggest party of the summer in Vegas, and he’s been pushing for the bigger ideas since then, according to Andrew Zarian.
Khan is also going with the idea of SummerSlam 2021 being a spectacle this year. It’s already been reported how Cardi B is rumored to be the host of the show. Now, reports suggest that Khan is also high on the idea of the rapper hosting the pay-per-view event.
Regarding Cardi B, Khan spoke with Alfred Konuwa of Forbes earlier this year to indicate that WWE would like to work with her.
“Yes, and specifically the two that you just mentioned,” Khan said of Bad Bunny and Cardi B, in response to a question on WWE possibly roping in the popular musicians. “Obviously, there is no touring right now, so the ability to get Bad Bunny for however long this run is going to be—and you’re going to see a lot of him—I don’t believe that would have existed in a world where Bad Bunny was on tour. That’s going to be a continual effort, so we’re always going to watch Bad Bunny, Cardi B to get involved.”
Khan’s comments on Bad Bunny and Cardi B were made in early February after which Bunny went on to make several RAW appearances after which he teamed with Damian Priest for a WrestleMania 37 win over The Miz and John Morrison. WWE was able to sell a ton of Bad Bunny merchandise, and thereby garner a significant amount of mainstream media attention.
Now, they are hoping to find a similar amount of success with Cardi B at SummerSlam 2021. The Up singles track is being used as the official theme song of the show while chances are pretty high that she will be heavily involved in the event that’s scheduled to take place at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 21.
