Ava Raine, better known as WWE Legend The Rock’s daughter, is ready to kick off her professional wrestling career following the footsteps of her father. Real-name, Simone Johnson, has been training at WWE’s Performance Center since May 2020, news that has earned tons of attention from the fans. However, the process of her TV debut got delayed due to her health problems.
The Rock’s daughter had an injury setback. To be particular, her knees got ruptured on multiple occasions. Even at her tender age, she had to fix those knees on three occasions. These days, the fourth-generation pro-wrestler has returned to where she belongs and that’s on the road with the WWE. Sooner, she took fans by surprise fans with by cutting a promo at a WWE NXT 2.0 live event in Orlando, Florida.
Simone Johnson Impressed WWE Officials With Her Performances
During the promo, The Rock’s daughter referred to herself as The Final Girl, a gimmick that she may just continue to adopt. Then she also put up that same name on her Twitter page as it appears WWE also wants her to go the same way. Her first house show for NXT took place in Citrus Springs, Florida.
The fans were excited to see what Ava was assigned to do in a WWE ring. The name disclosure in May itself stirred a lot of conversation as WWE registered a trademark for it on. Many fans wanted her to carry The Rock’s legacy in the WWE. But the company has a rule in place where they don’t generally allow their talents to use their actual names because they wish to own the trademark rights on their ring names.
The Rock’s daughter has good reasons for adopting new in-ring name
The name change dragged controversies around The Rock’s daughter who received criticism for letting go of her family name and going by the ring name Ava Raine.
To address the same Ava stated in her promo, “I probably sound like a broken record and hopefully this is the last I’ll mention this, but I don’t understand why people being portrayed as separate individuals from their family name is such a heated topic. A name doesn’t discredit any prior accomplishments from any family.”

To cope with this new potential heel gimmick, The Rock’s daughter also changed her appearance in a big way. She colored part of her hair red so that her look gets more realistic. Given these recent changes following her surgery, it looks like she will be ready to be brought on TV, anytime soon.
The Rock’s daughter didn’t have the opportunity to step into the squared circle, this far. But the recent appearance at this live event seems to be a gear-up process for her to debut at actual TV shows in WWE. We will have to wait and see when that happens and down the road, she can live up to her expectations.
