The Rock and Roman Reigns belong to the same family who went on to become perhaps the most dominant generational alliances of all time in the history of WWE. For the past several months, they have had one common enemy to put down, The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes, and they now plan to close the entire chapter at Wrestlemania 40.
Cody Rhodes has been going after Roman Reigns and the Undisputed WWE Universal Title since last year. He was this close to dethroning Reigns at WrestleMania 39, only to have his moment snatched away from him courtesy of The Bloodline members. But he won the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble to again secure a title rematch at Wrestlemania 40.
Roman Reigns Blasted By Top WWE Star For Being Part-Time Champion
During their recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Roman Reigns and The Rock had some tough words to offer on the second-generation star power in the WWE who’s coming after the title. He proclaimed that he and The Rock would close the book on Rhodes’ journey in the most embarrassing fashion when he showed up at Wrestlemania 40.
“I think Cody is reading the wrong book at this point. We don’t care about his story. It’s funny because you [The Rock] told me this a long time ago. In the wrestling business, there is no call sheet like ‘He’s number one, he’s number two,’ so everybody on our roster believes they are number one,” Roman Reigns made a bold prediction on Wrestlemania 40 match outcome.
“It’s a shark tank. Everybody is trying to take each other out. This guy has been chasing me for two years now. I’ve beaten him. We’ve crossed this bridge already. This is where we close the book completely on this guy, and we display what the most powerful family in wrestling is all about.”

Wrestlemania 40: Roman Reigns participating in two main events
In the main event of WrestleMania 40 Night One, The Rock will team up with WWE Champion Roman Reigns to compete against the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes and World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins in the biggest tag team match of all time in the history of the WWE. This match comes with an added stipulation as previously confirmed.
If Rhodes and Rollins win this match then all members of The Bloodline will be barred from ringside during Cody Rhodes vs. Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns II on Night Two of Wrestlemania 40. On the other hand, if Reigns and Rock win, then the championship match on Sunday night will be contested under Bloodline Rules meaning that the heel faction will have the advantage.
