The co-main-event of SummerSlam 2021 pay-per-view witnessed Bobby Lashley defeating Goldberg to retain the WWE Championship. But WWE did ensure that the challenger’s strong status was protected since he had lost the earlier two title matches (The former WCW franchise player lost against Drew McIntyre at Royal Rumble 2021 and against Braun Strowman at Wrestlemania 36).
On the latest occasion, Goldberg lost the match because he suffered a leg injury which was totally kayfabe and not a real one. Hence, he couldn’t stand on his feet to continue the match.
Bobby Lashley attacked Goldberg with a Steel Chair after the match to worsen the injury. This led to the legendary superstar’s son Gage jumping on Lashley, trying to save his father. But then Lashley took out the 15-year-old boy with the Hurt Lock submission. After this, MVP insisted that Lashley didn’t know it was Gage.
Goldberg Coming After Bobby Lashley; Not For The WWE Championship
Goldberg is coming after Bobby Lashley
Goldberg then got up and checked on his son and shouted “I’m gonna kill you!” at Lashley to end the segment. It was a genuine hint that a Summerslam rematch between the two is coming up. But then again we have to wait till the next PPV to get the match happening. As per the reports of WWFoldSchool, WWE Officials are discussing that rematch to happen at the WWE Crown Jewel 2021 pay-per-view in Saudi Arabia in October.
Following Summerslam 2021, Goldberg’s two matches for 2021 (as per his current deal) are done, so WWE will either use one of his 2022 matches in October or just will just book him for an extra match, depending on the lot of money they receive from the Saudi Arabia PPVs.
Before heading into Summerslam, Goldberg also appeared in an episode of WWE’s The Bump on YouTube, where he revealed that he only has 2 more matches left on his WWE contract as his current deal runs through 2022. Check out his comments,
“I’d love a piece of Roman Reigns and I think even more so would I love to get my hands around Cena’s throat, but it’s wishful thinking. We’ll see. Let’s take care of Bobby Lashley first. Hey, I’ve only got two more matches on my deal here, so we’ll see what happens.”
