Smackdown was broadcasted live this week from Des Moines, Iowa and we saw a full on Christmas brawl during the show. Team BAD showered Becky Lynch with an eggnog bath, a Christmas battle was on among Titus O’Neil, Neville and the Ascension, which followed with a triple Threat No Disqualification match for the Intercontinental championship.
The New Day vs. Lucha Dragons (Tag team championship match)
Before start up of the match The New Day declared their frustrations for not winning the Slammy Awards to become the tag team of the year. After spreading the holiday cheer to the audience, they engaged in a brawl for the title defense against the masked Luchagors. The high-flyers brought their high-flying offense to the table, but Woods with Trombone was the one to make things odd for them. Big E took full advantage of the distraction to retain the tag title.
The Wyatt family vs. Kane, Ryback and the Dudley Boyz
The Dudleyz are yet to figure out how to knock out the Wyatt family as they teamed up this week with Kane and Ryback on Smackdown but still proved to be a failed attempt. Despite the fact that the Dudleyz had two of the most physically commanding superstars on their side the Wyatts proved their dominance once again. After toppling down Kane, Ryback and D-Von outside the ring, Bray Wyatt delivered a sister Abigail to Bubba Ray Dudley for the victory.
Alberto Del Rio and Rusev vs. The Usos
The Usos was able to overcome the number games on RAW, but the same thing did not happen on Smackdown. The tag team of the year pushed the League of Nations to the limit but ultimately got outnumbered at the end when the Super Athlete kicked Jey Uso on the back to set up the Tree of Woe stomp for Del Rio.
Christmas Battle: Titus O’Neil and Neville vs. the Ascension
Stardust and the Ascension were all set to spoil Santino’s Christmas party, but Titus and Neville were all set to keep up the Christmas spirit. A heated argument among them eventually landed them into a match up and the man that gravity forgot showed why he won the Breakout star of the year when he hit the Red Arrow on Viktor for a pinfall victory.
Charlotte vs. Brie Bella
Charlotte was in full control of Brie Bella after hitting a mammoth spear to her as team BAD showed up in their best Christmas attire and went straight to attack Becky. She tried with some offense but got outnumbered thereafter. Charlotte was not bothered with what’s happening with her best friend and locked the figure-four to make Brie tap out. Becky was not happy at all with Charlotte not coming for her aid.
Triple Threat match for Intercontinental championship: Dean Ambrose, Dolph Ziggler and Kevin Owens
‘Christmas carnage’ is the appropriate thing to describe the main event of Super Smackdown. The Christmas gifts, ornaments and trees surrounded the ramp and were used to the full effect and added to the chaos. Three superstars punished each other to the extreme level. At one point, Owens suplexed Ambrose so hard that he got floored on his neck and was duly injured. Finally, Ziggler hit Owens with a superkick to set up Ambrose for a Dirty Deeds who eventually retained the title.
