Lana continues to be a significant part of Monday Night Raw in recent times. But at the same time, WWE continues to punish her through beatdowns. She won a match on RAW this week that handed her a spot on Team RAW for the 2020 Survivor Series PPV. She would now be part of the traditional elimination-style 5-on-5 tag team match from the Women’s Division.
But right after capturing the fifth and final spot, Lana was put through the announce table once again. It has happened for the sixth time on Raw at the hands of Nia Jax. This has become a trend that the company thinks will put over the Women’s Tag Team Champions while also getting a big babyface push for the fans, in a big possible way.

Why WWE Is Putting Lana Through Announce Table On Raw?
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained that Nia Jax putting Lana through tables may not be seen as a punishment. But WWE still has big plans for her while turning her into a babyface. Indirect push not changed. It was previously reported that the company wants the Ravishing Russian into a mega babyface, and that could go forward in slow motion.

Apparently, the creative team is using those constant table break spots to make it happen for Lana,
“I was told by the second or third table break that she’s gonna get — the idea is that they’re gonna put her through that table over and over again… not only expect her but to be a hot babyface, absolutely. Whether it happens or not is a different story, but absolutely.” (Transcription by Ringside News)
WWE thinks that putting Lana through the announce table, almost every week will eventually earn sympathy for her character from the fans and she’d go over. The idea must be that Lana will continue to earn opportunities using her cunning antics but she’d also digest abuse and punishment, alongside. Perhaps, WWE can make a long-term storytelling perspective to make this plan successful.
On a related note, her husband Rusev, made his All Elite Wrestling debut on September 9th when he was revealed as the best man to Kip Sabian. He immediately cut a fiery promo on WWE taking jabs at them. Since that promo, his real-life wife Lana is getting put through tables week after week. But reports from the sources inform that WWE isn’t punishing her.
