WWE has turned Kevin Owens to a babyface persona which has earned tremendous praise from the audience. The arrogant superstar does have what it takes to be rebellious why which often resembles none other than WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin. WWE even allowed him to use Stunner as the finisher so that we get a throwback of the legendary persona, every now and then.

But what does the former franchise player himself thinks about WWE using Kevin Owens as a modern-day version of Stone Cold Steve Austin? The Texas Rattlesnake has recently spoken with Sports Illustrated to share his view as to whether it’s right for the WWE to bring back his old gimmick in new circumstances.
Reason Why WWE Cancelled Historic Evolution PPV 2nd Edition
While speaking about this, Austin remarked that there won’t be any duplicate version of him, ever. Rather it will be good for the WWE to let the superstar be a revamped version of Kevin Owens, himself. When he first broke out into the scene, many believed that he is going to be the second edition of Ric Flair. But he turned out to be a unique persona.
“With Kevin Owens, don’t throw my name on there,” Austin said. “This guy can talk a lot of trash, he is great in the ring, and he’s using my finisher, but hell, no one is going to be the next Steve Austin.
“I remember when people were saying I was going to be the next Ric Flair when I was in WCW. No one’s ever going to be the next Ric Flair, and you’re not going to see the next Hulk Hogan or the next Bret Hart, either. It just doesn’t happen that way. People like to say that because of the similarities, but what we should be saying is, ‘I want this guy to be the next big thing.'” (courtesy wrestlingINC.com)

Stone Cold Steve Austin continued the interview confirming that Kevin Owens has all the good wishes from him. He is the one who gave his blessing on using the Stunner move on a regular basis. The Prizefighter also has a ton of charisma to make it big in the future, as admitted by the veteran name. Here’s more of his comments,
“My finish was being used by someone else before I really made it famous, or trademarked it, so to speak,” said Austin. “So I told him, go ahead and use the Stone Cold Stunner. I met him a long time ago at an airport and gave him some advice about cutting a promo. I like Kevin Owens, I think he does an amazing job with his promos and in the ring.”
The rivalry between Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon has become an integral part of Smackdown Live in recent times. This is the feud that stole the spotlight from the main event WWE title picture setting up a huge matchup at Summerslam. If Owens loses against McMahon then he has to leave the WWE. We hope nothing such will happen on August 11th.
