The departure of Brock Lesnar from WWE remains a constant topic of discussion for the last couple of months. While he’s no more under contract with WWE since WrestleMania 36, the news broke out around this past summer. Previously, it was reported that he doesn’t have any obligations with the company, at this point, wiping out any chances of any imminent future appearance.

WWE failed to reach a deal by the time they were allowed to sell his merchandise, as per the extended period of contract. The company tried to hold onto a trademark on Brock Lesnar’s name but that wasn’t successful, either.

According to Heel By Nature, WWE’s trademark on Brock Lesnar has also expired and they have also abandoned efforts to secure the trademark. The United States Patent and Trademark Office canceled the trademark on Lesnar’s name when WWE did not comply with a request for documentation.

WWE filed for the application on January 9 this year but the USPTO denied the request on March 12. The reason they showed was that WWE needed to provide written consent from Brock Lesnar to move forward with the filing. Furthermore, the USPTO reportedly “had issues with certain verbiage” WWE used in the application.

This fell around the same timespan when Brock Lesnar has been away from the pro-wrestling scene in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. WWE was given six months to provide written consent from The Beast Incarnate which they failed to comply with. On September 15, WWE’s application was abandoned, and the respective communication was sent to the company on October 2.

WWE previously tried to secure the trademark for Brock Lesnar in 2016 but failed in its attempt. Two contracts with WWE existed for him, one as an in-ring performer, and another for merchandise. Both of these two deals have expired his final appearance at WrestleMania 36. WWE had to pull all Lesnar merchandise from the WWE Shop, since then.

The last time Brock Lesnar competed in a WWE ring was when he lost the WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre. There have been talks to bring him back in time for SummerSlam 2020 but that wasn’t the case. He was recently spotted at a Medicine Hat in Alberta, Canada posing with a fan and sporting a new look. Perhaps, WrestleMania 37 could be a perfect time for him to resurface to the WWE scene.
