It was a spectacular night for the WWE Universe on Smackdown where several legends were in attendance to grace the show. On the auspicious occasion of the 20th anniversary of the event, Brock Lesnar returned to in-ring action against Kofi Kingston. Careers were on the line in a spectacular ladder match. The Rock was in attendance for the first time on WWE TV in nearly three years. Check out the results from the show that took place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

Two Huge Title Changes Happening At Hell In A Cell 2019

Vince McMahon and Stephanie McMahon welcomed us to the new era of SmackDown Live as we received pyros and new vignettes to kick of the show. WWE RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch walked into the show as the fans popped. She went for a promo as Baron Corbin interrupted. Soon The Rock arrived at the ring making the fans go wild. After an initial Rock-style promo, he and Becky attacked Corbin. Rock delivered the People’s Elbow and the Rock Bottom to end the segment.

Sasha Banks and Bayley vs. Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch was the opening contest of SmackDown. Bayley and Banks started the match with cheap shots to control Flair until she countered with a big boot sending Banks to the floor. Becky took over the match hitting the second rope leg drop to Bayley and a missile drop-kick on Banks. Flair made the tag and hit a Moonsault followed by the Figure-Eight forcing Bayley to tap out.

WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins vs. Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura took place on SmackDown in a Champion vs. Champion encounter. Bray Wyatt aired a Firefly Funhouse episode before the match began. Rollins superkicked Nakamura trying to finish the match when the lights went out. The Fiend Bray Wyatt arrived at the stage to choke out Seth Rollins with the Mandible Claw.

The Ladder Match between Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon took place on SmackDown, next. Shane wanted his grand introduction by Greg Hamilton when Owens ran into the ramp and attacked him. Shane countered by hitting him with a ladder and delivering an elbow drop to put Owens through the announce table. Owens leaped off with a Frogsplash, putting Shane through the ladder. Shane came back hitting a Coast to Coast. He tried to pull off the hanging briefcase but ended up receiving a Pop-Up Powerbomb on a ladder. Owens unlocked the briefcase to win the ladder match and end Shane’s career.

A huge tag team match happened on SmackDown with the lineup of Braun Strowman, The Miz and Heavy Machinery vs. Dolph Ziggler, Robert Roode, Randy Orton, and AJ Styles. As the fight continued around the ring, Strowman sent Ziggler into boxer Tyson Fury to make him furious. Strowman hit the Running Powerslam on Ziggler to get the win. After the match, Fury wanted to enter the ring but the security team stopped him from doing so.

Erick Rowan and Roman Reigns competed in a Lumberjack Match on SmackDown with 20 superstars surrounding the ring. Rowan took control of the match as the Lumberjacks attacked Reigns. The Big Dog countered with a Samoan Drop and a Superman Punch. Harper tried to interfere bit received a Running Knee from Daniel Bryan. Reigns put down Rowan with a huge spear to get the win.

Brock Lesnar To Compete At Hell In A Cell 2019

The WWE Championship match took place where Brock Lesnar challenged Kofi Kingston in a much-anticipated match. Kofi immediately ran into an F-5 from Lesnar to digest the pinfall loss. A stunned crowd saw Lesnar becoming the new WWE Champion, just like that. Rey Mysterio’s music hit as he appeared with former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez. Cain unloaded on Lesnar for sometimes sending him for a retreat. Cain and Rey stood tall to end the SmackDown 20th Anniversary as Heyman and Lesnar watched from the ramp.
