WWE News: James Ellsworth Released of His Contract
Nov 16, 2017 at 1:47 PM
A year ago, James Ellsworth arrived in the scene of WWE by appearing in a match against Braun Strowman. At that point, the monster among men was on a winning spree over local talents on a weekly basis.
On one such night, the local wrestler from Baltimore, Maryland was given a squash match on Raw. The Giant demolished the resistance put by the weird looking superstar, but the match made him an overnight sensation.
Going forward, he appeared on Smackdown Live to receive another beatdown from The Miz. But, in the meantime, his ‘chinless’ face earned quite a reputation from the audience. It even gave birth to a chant of his name among the crowd and finally a contract offered by the Smackdown brand.
He entertained the crowd at a whole new level with his unique comic timings. The storyline angle between Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles was spiced up with his addition to the mix. At one point, he used to have three victories over the Phenomenal One on the blue brand.
Then he betrayed Ambrose in the TLC match and made an ally with Carmella to elevate her on the roster. The alliance witnessed a first-time male valet role in the WWE for Miss Money in the Bank. While the alliance was going strong for quite a long, it has come to an end.
If reports from Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter are to be believed, then James Ellsworth is well on his way out of the company, Last week, he was pitted against Becky Lynch in an inter-gender match. Once the contest was over, Carmella put him down with a superkick to the head.
#SDLive will always hold a huge place in my heart, what a great locker room, I’ll miss you all, thank you

Apparently, this was an indication of his time getting numbered on the blue brand. Once this alliance comes to an end, it would be hard to find a new role for him. Plus, he was supposed to sign a one year contract with the WWE starting from last year. From that perspective, his deal with the company might have run down after which he got released.
