WWE News: John Cena is not being advertised for WWE Backlash

Arindam Paul / 30 July 2016

As announced by Smackdown Live commissioner, Shane McMahon, the blue brand will have its own PPV Backlash in the month of September. Starting from the 11th instant of the month, WWE will conduct brand specific PPVs. Though, the 4 big PPVs of the year will belong to both the brands. These four events are Survivor Series, Royal Rumble, Summerslam and of course, Wrestlemania.
WWE Backlash will take place at the Coliseum in Richmond, Virginia. Since it will be conducted exclusively by Smackdown Live, all the big names from the roster will be available for the PPV. However, the franchise of the company, John Cena who has been drafted to Smackdown after a decade is not being advertised for the PPV.
WWE has announced major superstars from the blue brand which includes the current WWE Champion Dean Ambrose, Randy Orton, AJ Styles, Dolph Ziggler, Becky Lynch, Bray Wyatt and the Intercontinental Champion, The Miz. But, somehow the Cenation Leader is missing from the list.

As reports from wrestlingINC.com Cena will be present in Shanghai China the previous night. WWE is supposed to conduct a live event in China on 10th September. It is supposed that Cena will be busy representing the franchise in China which is the reason behind his absence in Backlash PPV. Earlier this year, WWE announced a tie-up with PPTV to cater more to the Chinese with their products. Cena was present at the event held at Mandarin, China.
According to the rumor mill, the 15 time WWE World Heavyweight Champion will work on a lighter schedule. Adding to the rumor was the news that Cena has been removed from several upcoming live events in WWE. Though the legitimacy of this one is still not justified, he has his bag full with a number of other commitments other than WWE. He was the host of this year’s ESPYs awards in LA.
