It is now confirmed by WWE that John Cena will return to Smackdown Live on the July 4th episode. He will wrap up his movie schedule with The Pact for now and will head towards China for the live event tour of WWE in the country. The franchise will join the blue brand roster from June 28th onwards.

Now, ever since the official announcement from WWE has come, the rumour mill is trying to find out in which capacity John Cena might be inserted upon his return. He was not around for while and so there’s no concrete clue as of what’s next in store for him. He performed last in the match against The Miz and Maryse alongside his girlfriend, Nikki Bella.

Now, most of the recent reports are suggesting that he is set to insert into the WWE championship picture after comeback. The Summerslam PPV that is the second biggest PPV of the year will happen in the month of August. This is that time of the year when Vince McMahon uses the part-timers to make the show a sell-out.

Considering this scenario, the franchise going for his 17th World Title might be evident. So, the rumour mill is suggesting that John Cena vs. Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship is happening at the Summerslam. This is the match that has been pencilled in by the creative in recent times considering Cena’s availability on the roster.

This time around, the Cenation Leader might be available for the later part of the year which means he would be available for the last 2017 dual brand PPV in November, Survivor Series. This is a golden opportunity for the creative to hand him another title reign with him being present in the fall.

However, prior to that, Jinder Mahal will have at least two more championship defences. At the upcoming Money in the Bank PPV, he will be taking on Randy Orton in the championship rematch. There’s no way that he is going to drop the title, sooner.

Once he is done with Orton, a mini feud might be arranged for the July-PPV, Battleground. Most probably, AJ Styles will challenge him for the title in that Smackdown-exclusive PPV.
