WWE News: Kavita Devi Officially Signs a WWE Contract

During his tour to India, Jinder Mahal confirmed the news that Kavita Devi has officially become the first-ever female superstar from the country to sign a WWE contract.

As reported earlier, the WWE champion was here to promote the upcoming WWE Live show in December. He revealed this breaking news which is quite a revolutionary one for the pro-wrestling industry in India.

The Haryanvi-girl has already created history by becoming the first-ever Indian woman to feature on WWE TV. She participated in a match against Dakota Kai during the Mae Young Classic tournament. Despite putting up valiant efforts, she ended up losing and got knocked out from the very first round.

But, her strong moves earned quite an attention from the audience. So, she was amongst the short-listed performers who expected to receive a contract from the biggest pro-wrestling promotion of the world. Jinder Mahal was the first one to break the news with the following comments:

“I’m extremely proud to welcome Kavita to WWE where she now has a great opportunity to become India’s first female WWE Superstar. She is an inspiration to the youth of India and I wish nothing but success for her”

WWE.com also posted an update on the future of Kavita Devi in the company,

“Having learned her ring skills from her mentor, former World Heavyweight Champion The Great Khali, Devi is expected to begin training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Fla., this January.”

As confirmed by WWE, Kavita Devi will receive a lifetime opportunity to learn more wrestling techniques under the guidance of who’s who of the pro-wrestling circuit in the world-class facility of the WWE Performance Center. Once she can prove to get ready to debut officially, she will be called upon either NXT or in the main roster.

Initially, she started her career by training under the former WWE Superstar, The Great Khali. She trained at the Punjab based wrestling academy, Continental Wrestling promotion before getting a call to participate in the all-women tournament held by WWE, this summer.

Kavita sounded quite excited getting one step closer to become the first women’s champion from India,

“It was a privilege to be the first Indian woman to compete in WWE. Participating in the Mae Young Classic with some of the best female performers in the world was a great learning experience. Now I am looking forward to pursuing my dream of becoming the first WWE Women’s Champion from India.”
