WWE News: Ladder Match At Wrestlemania 34 Gets Cancelled

A ladder match is always something much exciting to see in WWE programming. Especially when it happens at Wrestlemania, bigger implications get attached to it. It was a historic moment when Razor Ramon defeated Shawn Michaels in such a ladder match for the Intercontinental championship. Also, we can’t forget the TLC matches competed between Edge-Christian, The Hardy Boyz, and the Dudley Boyz.

For two consecutive years, WWE brought back those memories by virtue of ladder matches. They wanted to host the Intercontinental Championship match as a bigger one. Hence, both Wrestlemania 31 and 32 had seen two ladder matches comprising multi superstars competing in it. The audience remains thrilled with the high-flying actions around this match.

Considering that this year, the IC title match will also comprise multi-superstars, as well, another ladder match was in speculation at the biggest event of the year. As announced on WWE Raw, The Miz had to defend his title against two other prime superstars from the WWE Raw brand who is Seth Rollins and Finn Balor.

However, recent reports from Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter have wiped out the chances of the same. The reason that the ladder match will not be hosted at Wrestlemania 34 is another such match would take place just one night prior to that under the NXT brand.

WWE NXT will unveil the brand-new North American Wrestling championship during the NXT Takeover: New Orleans event. Six superstars will compete in this ladder match with the title hanging high above the ring. Velveteen Dream, Killian Dain, Lars Sullivan, Ricochet, EC3 and Adam Cole are the six competitors finalized for this match.

With that being said, it is almost certain that a repetitive match will definitely not be planned by the officials. Check out the updates from SportsKeeda.com regarding this matter,

“Dave Meltzer stated on the Wrestling Observer Radio that it would make no sense for the WWE to have a ladder match on Saturday and another one on Sunday at WrestleMania. Circulating rumors of a multi-man ladder match for the IC title seem to be false as WWE looks to be going forward with a triple threat match featuring Finn Balor, Seth Rollins, and The Miz.”

As much as we would have to love to see this ladder match, the present triple threat traditional match is not a bad option, either. These three have all the tools to bring the house down at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
