WWE News: Mixed Match Challenge Result From First Semi-Final

The Mixed Match challenge has reached its final legs. Last night, we were scheduled to witness the first semifinal of the tournament. Over the last few weeks, two teams emerged to the spot in the tournament that is hosted exclusively on Facebook Watch. Once Smackdown went off the air, the semi-final began.

Asuka and The Miz was the first team in the contest who defeated Sasha Banks and Finn Balor in the quarter-final. In the other quarterfinal, Alexa Bliss and Braun Strowman toppled the resistance of Jimmy Uso and Naomi. So, the two teams from WWE Raw came face to face for the penultimate leg.

In this contest, Asuka’s undefeated streak was also put on the line. This time around, she had to rely on her partner, too to keep this coveted prize intact. That already excited the contest where somebody like Braun Strowman was also involved.

The Miz and Asuka were out first to kick things off for the night. Alexa Bliss and Braun Strowman walked out next to join them inside the ring. Bliss and Asuka were up to start things off for the first Mixed Match Challenge semi-final. But, the cunning lady fed The Miz to Strowman by tagging into her partner.

However, Miz tagged back to Asuka to start the match between Asuka and Bliss officially. But then again, Strowman was tagged back to the match and delivered a huge dropkick to keep the Miz down. The Monster Among Men was out for some more damage to the Miz when he refused to compete anymore in the match.

Asuka was forced to enter the match again as Alexa Bliss took advantage. She started shouting about caring the least about Asuka’s streak. After working Asuka for sometimes, Strowman pulled The Miz inside to have some fun inside the ring. The IC champion was down when Strowman went to re-kindle his budding romance with the WWE Raw women’s champion.

He pledged for a kiss from Little Miss Bliss as The Miz took advantage. But, Strowman pulled him outside the ring and went through the barricade. Inside the ring, Asuka finished off the contest, in styles, as follows, (quotes courtesy WWE.com)

“As both men lay amid the debris, Alexa and Asuka continued battling inside the ring. Little Miss Bliss threatened to end Asuka’s streak with back-to-back near falls, coming as close as anybody to scoring a victory over the dominant Superstar. Alexa then set up Asuka for a DDT, but The Empress of Tomorrow slyly reversed it into the excruciating Asuka Lock, quickly forcing Bliss to tap out.”

After the match, it was revealed that the WWE Universe chose Sasha Banks and Finn Balor for a second opportunity. They will be competing against the team of Charlotte Flair and Bobby Roode, next week. It would be the second Mixed Match Challenge semi-final.
