WWE News: More Intergender Segments Coming Up On WWE TV

We have seen quite a few segments on WWE TV featuring male and female superstars in altercations. These intergender things were regular back in the days of the WWE during the Attitude or Ruthless Aggression Era. But over the years, the creative team trimmed these down altogether since they have entered the PG era until bringing them back now.

The segment between John Cena and Becky Lynch in the New Year’s Smackdown was perhaps the most talked one. It garnered attention like never before leading WWE to arrange more intergender segments like these on TV. Nia Jax is the central character for now as we have seen in the Royal Rumble PPV or the night after the show on Monday Night Raw.

Nia Jax entered the men’s Royal Rumble match at number 30 after attacking R-Truth and taking him out. She eliminated Mustafa Ali and dominated some of the stars present in the ring. Lastly, Randy Orton caught him with an RKO for the elimination before Rey Mysterio delivered him with a 619.

It was one of the most watched segments from Royal Rumble. So rightfully, WWE wants to broadcast more such intergender segments on TV. As per the reports of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the officials are keen to broadcast more of such vignettes on TV in due course. An additional reason for the same is as follows, (via wwfoldschool.com)

“According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE could be interested in doing more Intergender Wrestling now as they weren’t keen on having male WWE stars physically dominate female WWE stars prior to this.”

This is why they have chosen none other but Nia Jax for the Royal Rumble spots. It was to avoid any negative backlash from the fans who can complain that male superstar dominated the only female in the match. Nia Jax is bigger than most of the men superstars present in the match. So they evaded any potential heat coming out of the intergender segment.

Also, there are some natural negative vibes present around this lady. Nia Jax is a universally hated villain for the WWE Universe. So they were indeed happy to see her getting superkicked, 619-ed and lastly RKO-ed in the Royal Rumble intergender segment.

But the very next night she stood tall in another such intergender moment on WWE Raw. This time, she pushed Dean Ambrose out of the ring almost causing a physical altercation. But the officials escorted Dean out of the ring. The good thing is that such segments leave the pro-wrestling world talking. So WWE would not mind writing some more in due course.
