WWE garnered some mainstream media attention after John Cena proposed to Nikki Bella at Wrestlemania 33. The relationship status of Cena and Nikki is the focal point of the Total Divas reality tv series since the beginning and came to a culmination point on April 2nd.
The franchise player of the company has finally bent down on his knees to raise the question to Nikki Bella.
John Cena has stated that he waited for a long time to get the perfect moment where he would give the marriage proposal to his girlfriend. He finally got one at the packed Citrus Bowl with 75,000 plus attendance on the Wrestlemania night.
Previously there were reports that WWE has planned about the segment for quite sometimes. So, Cena was asked about the same whether it was pre-planned by the creative and everybody at the backstage was aware of the same or not. The confession took place during the interview hosted by Al Roker on the Today show.

The Cenation leader stated that only one person in the creative was aware of it since it was Wrestlemania and the production needs to be aware of each live segment inside the ring. This is what Cena said,
“Just because of the fact it is a giant production, there needed to be at least one other person who knew.”
Both, Nikki and Cena have gone onto a hiatus from in-ring competition after appearing at the Wrestlemania. But, they were regular faces on television channels to promote their engagement segment from Mania.

In a session with Wrestling Compadres Slamcast, Nikki was asked why it did take so long to take their relationship to WWE TV. She revealed the real reason indicating that it was a pure creative purpose and nothing else. Here are her comments:
“What they realised is that when John was in relationships on-screen, it didn’t do as well as when he was himself. So the fanbase didn’t take him in like how that was. So after the last on-screen, they were like, no girls with this guy.”
“And I think with a lot of those guys- like, I don’t think you’ll ever see a girl with Roman (Reigns). There are just certain people that it’s just, not that it takes away from the ‘Superman’ feel of them, but a little bit.”
