WWE News: Potential Plans Around Daniel Bryan for Summerslam

Daniel Bryan returned to in-ring competition for four months now. But we have already seen him competing in several dream matches.

He competed against names like AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Jeff Hardy and Shinsuke Nakamura. It has been a good run for him so far.

Some might complain that WWE did not put him in the main event spotlight to date. But there’s a big reason behind this. He has not signed a new contract with the company. The current deal expires in September. So we might not see him anymore after August.

Summerslam might turn out to be his last PPV if he does not re-sign with the WWE. The Wrestling Standard has given an update on the status on Daniel Bryan. WWE officials see his current run as the ‘farewell run’ in the company. So this could very well be his very last appearances in the WWE.

It is the reason why the officials are willing to make the most out of his appearances. So we have seen all the dream matches featuring him on Smackdown be it without any storyline angle. Meanwhile, plans are also getting sketched for Daniel Bryan for Summerslam. The Miz is going to be his opponent.

A potential setup of the match will happen at the Extreme Rules PPV event. Daniel Bryan will team up with Kane to take on against The Bludgeon Brothers for the Smackdown tag team championships. The Miz is most probably interjecting into the match costing the babyface team the title opportunity.

It would set up the inevitable match for Summerslam that the WWE Universe wanted to see for years. The source also hinted potential outcomes of the match, (courtesy stillrealtous.com),

“It’s also being reported that Miz is expected to pick up the victory if Daniel doesn’t re-sign, but there has been talk of Bryan defeating Miz and possibly extending the feud to Hell in a Cell if Bryan signs an extension.”

WWE surely does not want to lose Daniel Bryan just months after his return. He is the biggest name present on the Smackdown locker room. His departure from the company can affect the brand a lot.
