WWE News: Randy Orton Set To Miss House Shows Over Next Few Weeks

Randy Orton has been the prime figure of the Smackdown brand from Wrestlemania onwards. He won the WWE championship at the biggest stage of them all and quite expectedly put as the face in the intro of Smackdown, every week.

That tradition might have changed a bit following the Backlash PPV where he dropped the title to Jinder Mahal. The self-proclaimed Maharaja has become the new WWE champion.

Following the title change, there might be some alteration in Orton’s schedule, as well. As reported by PWInsider.com, the Viper will not be seen doing house shows for the next few weeks. He will continue to do the televised editions which are the weekly show of Smackdown Live and the PPV editions.

The reason behind the same is unclear but it is said that he needs a break from the extremely busy schedule of the WWE. Ever since he returned to the WWE in last year’s July, he’s been working constantly, even at this age. At this time, he might be willing to give company to his wife and new-born baby leading to the hiatus from live events.

He is not even advertised for the upcoming house show in Knoxville, Tennessee. This is the town where Randy Orton was born. He later moved to St Louis, Missouri and always billed from there.
In his absence, names like AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, Nakamura and the champion, Jinder Mahal will have a bigger task in hand to sell out the live events belonging to the Smackdown brand. It is expected that all the said names alongside the other available stars will be given over duties in his absence.

Even on this week’s Smackdown Live, Randy Orton was not present on the show, whereas, Jinder was able to celebrate his win in a Punjabi style. No interference was made in the coronation in full Indian style.

However, Orton featured in a dark match once the main show concluded. Jinder Mahal defended the championship against him and retained it via disqualification. The Singh brothers interrupted in the match by attacking him leading to a disqualification. Next time, Orton and Mahal will square off in the title match at Money in the Bank PPV.
