WWE News: Reason Behind Jinder Mahal’s WWE Championship Opportunity At Backlash
May 6, 2017 at 1:32 PM
Quite surprisingly, Jinder Mahal got a big push in WWE following the Superstar Shakeup. He was a nobody back on Monday Night Raw. But, he was given a shot to become the number one contender for the WWE championship and took the fullest advantage to capitalise on it.
Defeating the other five superstars he won the match and become the one to challenge Randy Orton for his title at the Backlash PPV. In addition, he has already formed a stable in the form of the Singh Brothers to continue his dominant heel run. Already, a ‘Maharaja’ gimmick is launched for him.
Now Dave Meltzer has pointed out two main reasons why Jinder Mahal has got so big push in just a few weeks. The man with the Indian origin debuted back in 2012 and was supposed to be the one to represent the subcontinent after The Great Khali. He had reached the finals of the tournament to crown the first-ever NXT champion in that year.
He was even pitted against Randy Orton at one point. But, back then there was not any WWE Network where one can watch the PPV in only $9.99. WWE had to arrange some marquee matches to set up a PPV which the spectators had to watch spending $50.
Now, WWE has got the opportunity to push the feud forward with the help of the WWE Network. Plus, if this one comes out to be a blunder at Backlash, then the company would have one more marquee match for the evening that is of AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens for the United States title.
Also, WWE is leaving no stones unturned for using Jinder Mahal as a representative from India. This would ensure to catch the bigger marketplace that India is. The recent opening of the WWE Shop.com was a hint of things to come.
The New Day will appear on IPL Extra Innings T20 for the same purpose. Also, we can now hear Hindi live commentaries for the WWE PPV events which indeed is a very good news for the fans. Now, it’s time to see whether WWE would love to crown Jinder as the new WWE champion following Backlash.
