Women’s division of the WWE is set to make history once again at WWE TLC. They will compete in the first-ever Tables, Ladders and Chairs match which is a triple threat affair, too. Becky Lynch will defend the Smackdown women’s championship against Charlotte Flair and Asuka. These three are perhaps the strongest performer in the current WWE female roster setting up a dream lineup for the fans.
It’ll not be a surprise if this women’s division match would turn out to be the main event of the night. Initially, the match was about to feature Charlotte Flair against Becky Lynch in a singles matchup. But Paige altered the lineup announcing a battle royal. The winner of the match got the chance to enter this match making it a triple threat affair. Asuka capitalized on the opportunity winning the concerned match.
Fightful.com has come up with a report revealing why WWE officials chose Asuka to compete in this match at WWE TLC. It was primarily due to the reactions received from the fans on Smackdown prior to Survivor Series. Becky Lynch confirmed that she can’t perform at the mega match against Ronda Rousey. A nasal fracture prohibited her from competing in the match as she chose Charlotte Flair as her replacement.
But the crowd gave a thunderous reaction when it came to Becky Lynch potentially choosing Asuka, at one point. Well, it did not go unnoticed by Vince McMahon who later went on to book Asuka to create this dream match at WWE TLC. Here’s more from the source, (courtesy stillrealtous.com)
“Fightful reports that Asuka is receiving a renewed push due to the reaction she received from the live crowd the night that Becky Lynch announced she had to pull out of Survivor Series due to injury. Vince McMahon was reportedly caught off guard when Asuka received a huge ovation during the segment and the fact that Charlotte Flair didn’t get a bigger reaction than the Empress of Tomorrow. That’s when he saw the opportunity to add Asuka to the match.”
It’s good to see Asuka finally back on the Smackdown championship picture. She held an undefeated streak at the beginning of this year. But she was in the middle of nowhere for the latter part of 2018. We hope this insertion into the title match could make way for bigger things in the future. Rumors also have that she might end up winning her maiden women’s title at WWE TLC.
