Rey Mysterio returned to the WWE on the Smackdown 1000 episode back in October. Speculations around him signing a new contract with the WWE was on the rumor mill, for sometimes. The company’s website confirmed the same just prior to the monumental episode of the blue brand. He is back to feature in the mid-card level of the roster who’s yet to get any championship opportunity.

We should note that the ‘biggest little man’ in WWE history is also closing into the dawn of his career. He is performing for more than two decades in the pro-wrestling circuit that helped to become a legend. But growing age has left an impact on his reflexes. It’s no wonder that the veteran could wish to hang up the boots in the near future.
But prior to that, Rey Mysterio has one final dream match that he wants to make happen. He was the guest on the latest edition of Lillian Garcia’s Chasing Glory podcast. The host asked him about the one dream match when he named his son Dominic. He wants to feel the moment after stepping his foot inside the squared circle against the successor. Here’re the comments,
“My dream as a father and, you know when they ask you, ‘Rey, what do you have left to do in your career? What is it that you – you pretty much have done a little bit of everything, or you could say you’ve done it all,’ but for me, my final dream come true as a wrestler and as a father is to be able to perform in there with my son so I can say, ‘Ok. Now I’ve done it all. Now, this is it.’
Rey Mysterio also spoke about the potential timeline of his career-end. He sees himself as a retired person within the next couple of years. This might get extended for multiple reasons including the dream match. But his career could not go beyond the next few years, for sure. So 2023 is going to be the ultimate year for him to lace up the boots for one final time.
We have seen a child version of Dominic during WWE storylines back in the last decade. He has grown to up a big man whom we can expect to be inside the ring within the minimum timespan. He is already undergoing rigorous training sessions to prepare himself. Here’s more from Rey Mysterio why the father vs. son match needs to happen,
“I really don’t feel like I need to accomplish anything anymore. I do what I do because I still love it. And the only thing that I would love to do as a father and a sports entertainer is being able to share the ring with my son, and having my wife and my daughter sit in the front row and their two loved ones share the ring together.”
Rey Mysterio is a living legend for the pro-wrestling fans. He is a revolutionary name in this world. We can’t think of a superstar like his size could eventually become a world champion until he arrived on the scene. It was back in 2002 when he burst out to the scene to create a league of his own.
The Masked Luchador has become so much popular among the fans with his high-flying moves. There is nobody quicker inside the ring back in his heyday. The craze around Rey Mysterio was bigger amongst the kids. He had a special appeal to the youth with his colorful masks and merchandises.
WWE always treated him as a representative for the Mexican audience. The company needed somebody to sell out the shows in this region outside the USA.
