We have been seeing a cruel side of Ronda Rousey on WWE TV ever since the heel-turn happened in February. This was a predicted move to put Becky Lynch over with the fans, as much as possible. Plus, the fans were booing Rousey, anyway. So the champion can give them additional reasons to do so with this interesting move.
Full Wrestlemania 35 match card announced
This ensured a solid build-up for the Wrestlemania 35 main event match. Ronda Rousey will defend the WWE Raw women’s championship against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair in a triple threat match. This would be the first time ever that women superstars will be part of the main event scene of the biggest event of the year.
Meanwhile, this Monday marked the final time that WWE hosted Monday Night Raw prior to Wrestlemania 35. The date was April 1st which is why we expected a few swerves representing the April Fool’s Day. Ronda Rousey herself came up with such an idea that was pretty much exciting. But it may have already been scraped off.
As reported by sescoops.com, Ronda Rousey pitched the idea to Paul Heyman. To the beginning of this past WWE Raw episode, she would announce of her pregnancy and thereby her incapability to compete at Wrestlemania 35. So the first-ever women’s main event would have got canceled.
This would obviously be an April Fool’s prank to be clarified by the end of the show. Heyman appreciated the idea at first as stated by the WWE Raw women’s champion.
“I sent him this long text, basically saying: ‘Hey, Paul, let’s do an April Fool’s Day joke on April Fool’s Day on RAW, saying that I’m pregnant and that the women are no longer the main event in WrestleMania because I’m out.’ Then at the end of the show, we can say, “April Fool’s!”
But moments later, the advocate for the beast incarnate informed Ronda Rousey that she can’t do that. WWE has already let everyone known about the first-ever women’s main event match, officially. So there’s no way that they are pulling that match for even once. This could harm the marketing campaign of the show. So here’s more from Rousey confirming that the April Fool’s day prank is not happening,
“Then he called me back immediately, and he said, ‘Yeah, great idea and all, but they’re going to announce to all major outlets and everything that the women are actually going to main event, this Monday. So we can’t do your April Fool’s Day joke. They’re making that official, official.’ I was like, oh, shoot!”
Interestingly, it was through this conversation that Ronda Rousey got to know about the three women main-eventing Wrestlemania 35. Instead of April Fool’s prank, she ended up delivering a six-woman tag team match followed by an arrest!
