WWE News: Samoa Joe Injured On WWE Raw

Arindam Paul / 11 January 2018

The injury season continues in the WWE as one of the main event superstars was a victim of it, once again. This time around, Samoa Joe is the concerned one in this list of superstars who are dealing with concussions. The rumors of the same were there following this week’s WWE Raw. Recently, the confirmations have been received from the official website.

According to them, the Samoan Submission Machine has ruptured his foot during the scheduled match against Rhyno on the January 8th edition of the flagship show. The injury occurred in the middle of the match. However, he was able to finish the match against one-half of the former Smackdown tag team champions. In fact, he squashed Rhyno in the match and cut a heel promo, afterward.

So, we did not get a clue of Samoa Joe dealing with an injury until this update came. The exact situation was disclosed by WWE senior ringside physician Chris Amann who said,

“During his match, [Samoa Joe] felt a pop at the bottom of his [right] foot. We took a look and believe he has a plantar fascia rupture, which is a thick tissue rupture under the foot. We will get an MRI to confirm. Treatment includes a period of immobilization in a boot with crutches and platelet rich plasma injections.”

It is to be noted that Samoa Joe announced his entry in the 31st Royal Rumble match to be held on January 28th. With this injury coming in all of a sudden, he might have to stay away from making his first-ever appearance in this prestigious battle royal. More updates can be received when the due MRI will be performed.

Furthermore, this injury also sidelined him from competing in the WWE Mixed Match Challenge contest. The audience voted him to be Bayley’s partner on WWE.com poll. However, as addressed by WWE Raw general manager, he will be no more available for this tournament that will take place on Facebook.

Elias will be the one who will give company to the Hugger One. Meanwhile, Samoa will try to recuperate from this concussion, as early as possible. Following the Summerslam PPV, he suffered a foot injury that kept him out of action for two months. We will see how much time it would take to recover from the latest one.
