WWE News: Smackdown Women’s Championship Match Confirmed On Fastlane

Ruby Riott, The former NXT superstar did accept the challenge but with a twist. She demanded an opportunity to the Smackdown women’s championship

The Riott Squad has been ganging up against Charlotte Flair for the past several months teasing a future Smackdown women’s championship match. Bad blood has grown between the two sides after months of altercations. So, a proper culmination was needed in this feud. The recent announcement from WWE has done justice to the anticipation.

As we have seen on Smackdown, this week, the heel faction picked up a big win on the babyface team of Charlotte Flair, Naomi, and Becky Lynch. The Queen of the women’s division was upset over the fact since she could not make it a win in a row. For the last couple of weeks, she made Live Morgan and Sarah Logan, her victims. But, when it to the bigger contest, they came up short.

So, Charlotte Flair was quite frustrated with the Riott Squad winning this bout and taking the momentums by their side. So, the champion, herself sent a message to the leader of the group that came as an opportunity in no time.
After going back to the locker room, the second-nature challenged Ruby Riott in a match. She is the only one left in her team to compete in a singles match against her. So, the genetically superior athlete does not have any problem to take out the Ruby in the future.

The former NXT superstar did accept the challenge but with a twist. She demanded an opportunity to the Smackdown women’s championship. The only way she was ready to accept the match was to put the title on the line. Charlotte took a less time to agree on her condition and therefore another title match is set at the Fastlane PPV.
Check out the official announcement of the match from WWE.com,

“Charlotte Flair’s pursuit for payback on The Riott Squad will culminate in a bitter showdown against Ruby Riott with the SmackDown Women’s Title on the line at WWE Fastlane. With this heated rivalry reaching its boiling point, see what happens when Charlotte Flair’s title showdown against Ruby Riott streams live, Sunday, March 11, at 8 ET/5 PT on the award-winning WWE Network.”

It is a fresh angle on the women’s championship picture that we should look forward to. It will mark an end to Charlotte not defending her title for over two months. The last time she featured in a championship match on TV was at the Clash of Champions PPV.
