One of the main events of Wrestlemania 35 is set from the Smackdown brand. Perhaps the most ‘over’ male superstar in WWE, today will challenge the meanest heel from the blue brand to set up the prime title match. Daniel Bryan will defend the WWE Championship against Kofi Kingston in one of the much-anticipated matches of Wrestlemania 35.
As we have noted before, Kofi Kingston is the most popular superstar of WWE’s male roster. So it is evident that the fans want to see him coming out on top by the end of the Wrestlemania night. He should become the new WWE Champion putting a smile on each of the fan’s face and thereby establishing Kofi-Mania, all over again.
As per the recent reports, there are good chances to see that becoming a reality due to WWE’s long-term planning. In fact, Kofi’s popularity might hand him a long title reign that should run through the summer of 2019 before coming to an end. Well, that sounds pretty much of plan that the WWE fans will go ga-ga about.
As noted by wwfoldschool.com, there’s a big chance that WWE might crown Kofi Kingston with the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 35. A big reason behind this plan is that Daniel Bryan is once again refusing to work WWE’s Saudi Arabia PPVs like last year. Hence, the company may not have any other option but to hand over the title.
So the backstage feeling is that Kofi Kingston will enter the Saudi Arabia show as the WWE Champion. We should note this should be the next PPV event of Wrestlemania unless WWE makes changes to the already fixed schedule.
The source also disclosed that if Kofi Kingston does win the WWE Championship, he will carry it till SummerSlam 2019 and there’s a reason behind it. This would mark a reincarnation of a feud from a decade back against Randy Orton,
“Vince McMahon wants Randy Orton to hold the WWE Championship when SmackDown moves to FOX later this year because Vince thinks Orton has a great look and he’ll be the perfect man to represent the company in front of a bigger audience on FOX.”
This should be an interesting feud on Smackdown that has a way back connection. Randy Orton was the one who prohibited Kofi Kingston getting a main-event push in 2008-09 and go on to become a Wrestlemania headliner. We will see if Kofi can turn the table in his favor, this time around.
