The post-Wrestlemania edition of Smackdown Live became more special for the pro-wrestling fans. We have crowned new tag team champions on the show in The Hardy Boyz. The veteran tag team was back on board as a team to take on against the best team that WWE has to offer, right now. But the big news from the night was that they were able to make history by picking up the titles for a record eighth time.
The Usos were all hyped up to face the Hardy Boyz in a traditional tag team match. The dual championships from Smackdown were also on the line in this contest. The twin brothers dominated the match for the early part before Matt connected with the Side Effect to bring back the momentums in their favor. Thereafter, the Twist of Fate and Swanton Bomb combo followed on Smackdown to earn them the titles victory.
With this win, The Hardy Boyz has now become an eight-time tag team champions in the WWE history. Only the Dudley Boyz are ahead of them with ten championships wins. Hardyz surpassed the other contemporaries of their era i.e. Edge and Christian who had seven reigns. The record-setting night did not end well for the Hardy Boyz courtesy of Lars Sullivan. The NXT recruit appeared on Smackdown to lay waste on the veterans before leaving.
There’s no doubt that The Usos are the best that WWE’s tag team division has to offer. These twins have been around the WWE for over two decades and finally got their Wrestlemania 35. This was for the first time ever that these veterans entered Wrestlemania main card with the tag team gold around their waist.
They defended those in a fatal-4-way tag team match. Ricochet-Aleister Black, Rusev-Shinsuke Nakamura, and The Bar competed in this match where the champions retained. The Usos delivered two superkicks and followed up with the pendant frog splash to pick up the win. Thereafter, they demanded more competition.
This led us to see last night’s dream match where the two very best tag teams met for the first time. The Usos are the current best in the locker room whereas the Hardy Boyz are pioneers in the division for two decades. If not featuring in a match, fans could have missed a big treat. But it finally became a reality on Smackdown and ended on a dramatic note crowning new champs in the form of the Hardy Boyz.
