WWE News: Update on the Superstar Ending Asuka’s Streak

The streak possessed by Asuka is considered to be one of the most protected things in today’s WWE.
After Undertaker’s Wrestlemania streak, the company has built this undefeated ritual for the Empress of Tomorrow since the day she stepped foot in the WWE ring back in 2015. Since then, she has been the woman to watch out for in every singles match she competes starting from NXT to the main roster.
After being the NXT women’s champion for 523 days, she was forced to relinquish the title due to an injury after the NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III event in August 2017.
This marked her main roster shifting back at the TLC PPV. She took the least amount of time to establish herself as the benchmark performer. Going forward, she won the Royal Rumble match for women superstars earning a guaranteed championship shot at Wrestlemania 34.
Meanwhile, the question remains as of when or who is going to be the streak-breaker, at some point. Recently, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter came up with potential planning regarding this. The veteran wrestling journalist claimed that none other than Ronda Rousey is going to be the woman. To match up to the level of the UFC superstar, WWE has been building the former NXT champion as an unstoppable force.
Check out the updates from SportsKeeda.com regarding this,
“Dave Meltzer is claiming that WWE is setting up Ronda Rousey to eventually end Asuka’s undefeated streak, but it will supposedly not happen until later in the year. That means Rousey will most likely be put in a tag team match against The Authority, leaving Asuka to fight for the title.”
As you can see although this match is set to happen, this is not going to take place at this year’s Wrestlemania. Rather, Asuka might be capturing the championship first, perhaps at the biggest stage of the year. She will continue the title reign for quite some time before finally getting challenged by Ronda Rousey to drop it. In the process, the Japanese star will also lose the streak. This is the initial planning which might be changed soon if WWE officials think so.
