Roman Reigns returned to WWE programming back on February 25th episode of Monday Night Raw. It was a huge sigh of relief for the creative team as well as the fans who were conscious of his health. But we received the good news that he defeated Leukemia with ease and had been able to make the quickest comeback that one can expect.
With that being said, we anticipated when he might go back to the championship picture. As for Wrestlemania 35, he received a match against Drew McIntyre. Despite the huge momentums in his opponent’s favor, he was able to pull off the big win and look forward to the future. So is he going back to the main event picture, soon after his entry on Smackdown?
Slice Wrestling published a report on The Big Dog of the WWE stating that it would be a slow process for him to be back where he belongs. The win against Drew McIntyre was just the first step for him to pick up some momentums. As for the actual main event spotlight, he will have to wait until the Summer of 2018, (via wwfoldschool.com)
“Reigns’ path to the World Title picture is expected to begin at WrestleMania 35 with a big win over McIntyre. WWE officials will be building up Reigns over the Summer with various feuds and then he’ll finally be put back into the World Title picture at SummerSlam 2019.”
As you can see, WWE is not giving the prime Championship of WWE Raw, back to Roman Reigns anytime soon. He has to scratch and crawl to get the title shot at Summerslam. Last year, it was at the same event that he defeated Brock Lesnar to capture the Universal Championship only to relinquish it a couple of months later due to leukemia.
The process of bringing back Roman Reigns title picture should be slow as he might have not got over from the side-effects of Leukemia to date. This is why he is not competing in Live Events since returning. If being the champion, he had to make regular appearances on these house shows, no matter what. Hopefully, he will be back in full capacity in weeks to come in the future.
