WWE has started to host global PPV events in Saudi Arabia from 2018 onwards. It was last year in April that the first such event took place in the Greatest Royal Rumble. A 40-superstar prestigious battle royal emanated from an international stadium that went into the history books of the WWE. Later in November, another such show tool place.

Under the name Crown Jewel PPV, D-Generation X reunited for one last time against the Brothers of Destruction. Overall, WWE received a bigger success while hosting such shows. They will continue to go back to the middle-east country for the next nine years. But there’s a significant reason why some of the fans may not like this tradition.

There are some prohibitions for women superstars when it comes to hosting events in Saudi Arabia. No female superstars can perform on shows hosted in this country. Renee Young created history by doing commentary on Crown Jewel. But when it comes to allowing female superstars in competitions, it’s a big no.

However, a positive ray of hopes arrived courtesy of a recent report from Wrestling Observer. The reliable source declared that women superstar may start performing from the next time onwards. WWE has not announced anything on this next edition, yet. They should do so in due course once Wrestlemania passes by.

Triple H also hinted the same in a recent interview. He kept the doors open for the women superstars to perform in Saudi Arabia. It should happen in near future even it does not occur in this year,

“While, right now, women are not competing in the event, we have had discussions about that and we believe and hope that, in the next few years they will be. That is a significant cultural shift in Saudi Arabia.”

We should not that WWE already created history in 2017 in Saudi Arabia. Sasha Banks challenged Alexa Bliss in a house show in the first-ever match took place from the women’s division. But it was just a one-off match took place that did not become a regular norm. But ongoing women empowerment should make it a reality.

Another indication for allowing women superstars in Saudi Arabia is that WWE did not book any date for an all-women PPV. Last year, Evolution happened as a consolation prize for women in return of the Saudi show reserved only for the men superstars. As for 2019, there’s still no update whether that happens. So there’s a fair chance that women will continue to make history in this foreign country.
