WWE News: WWE Has Massive Plans For The Future Big-Four PPV Events

There are four special pay-per-view events in the WWE that we often refer to as the ‘big-four’ PPVs. These are the best four shows to be hosted in the WWE programming time-to-time in a single calendar year. Wrestlemania, Summerslam, Royal Rumble, and Survivor Series are these shows that get a special kind of treatment in WWE’s calendar. In the near future, these big-four events might get even more spectacular as per the current reports.

Mike Johnson noted on PW Insider Elite audio that WWE wants to be ‘in a very good position when holding their big shows’. Apparently, they don’t want to be in a position to hunt for the PPV venues. But they want the venues to volunteer their services when it comes to hosting these big-four PPV events.

Ringsidenews.com had the exact transcript that says they want everyone ‘coming to them in order to house the bigger events rather than hunting down the bigger venues to house their more important PPV events’.

This is the reason why the company is constantly trying to make all these big-four events a spectacular with each passing year. Previously Wrestlemania was the only show to have multiple other fan-feasts to it. Apart from the main card, they had Hall of Fame Ceremony and events during WrestleMania Fan Axxess.

But they have introduced the same tradition in the recently bygone Royal Rumble 2019 weekend. They had an NXT Takeover event alongside an Axxess event that hosted the Worlds Collide Tournament. So the idea is clear here that all of these big-four PPV shows should look like milestone events. Here’s more from the source,

‘The goal here is to not have the shows in stadiums although WWE would love to make that sort of money. The goal is to take all of these milestone events: SummerSlam, Survivor Series, Royal Rumble, WrestleMania and lift them up to a point where markets are willing to bid to host them so WWE isn’t going to book a building and pay for a building. They are getting a city or a state to come and say, ‘We’d like the Royal Rumble here and this is what we can do to partner with you.’

WWE is far bigger than just a wrestling company. It is the ultimate definition of sports entertainment. So the officials want to take over an entire city whenever such big-four PPV shows happen in a calendar year. The shenanigans around these should be bigger enough to create an all-over hoopla around the host city. Here’s more on this exciting news,

“It’s one of the reasons why they added Axxess to Royal Rumble and SummerSlam. They want there to be a situation where they bring an entire scenario and environment to a market. They get paid to have it, they run their show, and they basically bring the circus to town.”
