WWE News: WWE Legend Hinted Retirement During An Event

If the recently concluded Global Wars event was any indication then former WWE Superstar, Bubba Rey Dudley might have confirmed his retirement from the pro-wrestling circuit for good. Ever since leaving the biggest pro-wrestling promotion of the world, last year, Bubba has been a regular name in the independent circuit.

He also signed a contract with the ROH promotion to be a part of it and featured in numerous events. With his growing age, the speculations of potential retirement were there for quite sometimes. The latest event from ROH should be the final one as per his words.

The incident took place at the Global Wars event which is a cross-brand show hosted by ROH and the New Japan Pro-wrestling. According to the reports of SportsKeeda.com, Dudley cut a promo during the show after putting Christopher Daniels through a table. The latter one teamed up with Frankie Kazarian against Cheeseburger and Kushida for one match.

After breaking one more table in his career (which is a signature move for the Dudleyz) Bubba was seen uttering on the mic, “This is the last table that I would ever smash”. Needless to say, the fans in attendance went nuts after hearing those words which might have been the last for the veteran pro-wrestler. The audience also gave him a standing ovation following the announcement.

Bubba Rey Dudley is one iconic name who performed in numerous wrestling promotions over the years including WWE, WCW, ECW, TNA, ROH and more. They were the path-breakers in the tag team business during the Attitude Era alongside Edge & Christian and The Hardy Boyz. Teaming up with D-Von Dudley, he won the tag titles for nine times.

They returned to the WWE in 2015 which failed to a big extent. While we expect them to hold the tag team championships for one more time, WWE used them as jobbers. This led the duo to leave in the post-Summerslam Raw episode of 2016.

Bubba Rey Dudley went on to pursue his in-ring performer stint in the other wrestling promotions whereas D-Von remained with the WWE. He was given a role of a backstage producer who can be seen during Raw or Smackdown tapings, nowadays.
