A new storyline has kicked off on this week’s WWE NXT 2.0 featuring the Imperium and the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions. In a backstage segment, interviewer McKenzie Mitchell was having a conversation with new NXT Tag Team Champions Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner of Imperium as they defeated MSK at last week’s Halloween Havoc to capture the gold.

They were interrupted by new WWE NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Gigi Dolin and Jacey Jayne, who invited Imperium to come to watch their six-woman match that’s scheduled for next week. “The mat is sacred, but America has its benefits,” Barthel said to Aichner as Dolin and Jayne walked away after giving them the invitations.

WWE then confirmed that a six-woman match for next week that will see Toxic Attraction’s Gigi Dolin, Jacey Jayne, and WWE NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose taking on Io Shirai, Kayden Carter, and Kacy Catanzaro.

The match was confirmed after Shirai interrupted Rose’s opener promo as her tag team partner Zoey Stark was shown beat down in the back by Dolin and Jayne. The heel duo eventually came out to join Rose in the ring for a triple-team attack on Shirai. But then Carter and Catanzaro ran down to the ring to make the save.

An injury angle was played out around Joey Stark injury angle as it was noted that the former tag champ was taken to a local medical facility for further evaluation. There will be updates for her later in the week.

Another tag team match has been confirmed for next week’s WWE NXT 2.0 episode as Kushida and Ikemen Jiro will team up to take on The Creed Brothers of the Diamon Mine faction. Kushida and Jiro have feuded with the group for a few weeks now. The Japanese duo even dressed up as Brutus Creed and Julius Creed for Halloween Havoc, last week.

Next week’s WWE NXT show will also witness the return of Kay Lee Ray. WWE has aired “coming soon” teaser vignettes for KLR in recent weeks, while a new vignette was added on this week’s show around the longest-reigning NXT UK Women’s Champion in history, to confirm that she will “start to rage” from next Tuesday night, onward. Her original NXT debut happened on the August 24 NXT episode.
